Why are there many homeless people in big cities likeLA Essay

Why are there many homeless commonwealth in big cities likeLA - Essay ExampleTherefore, as a conscious citizen, I am concerned with the show up of the join on of homeless people in big cities, and I believe the improvement of the situation depart result in the improvement of life of the entire society as closely as the sylvans economy.Among the main causes of high rates of homelessness in big cities are the following ones lack of cheap housing, poverty, and unemployment. For many people who experience the trouble of homelessness, the affordable housing crisis is what leaves them without shelter because of high housing costs. In addition to this, in big cities, such as Los Angeles, affordable housing is replaced by upscale and high-cost apartments, in which people with low incomes cannot afford to live. Poverty contributes to high rates of homelessness in LA as well because poor people have no money to pay for housing that takes a great proportion of income. Finally, unemploy ment, closely connected to poverty, is one of the reasons rates of homelessness increase due to the fact that lack of jobs and falling incomes hold in to peoples inability to pay for housing. The root cause of unemployment is related to such macro gist that governs the life of the society as growth of population. This level is the first and the root one in state why there are not enough working places in cities today and why the riddle exists. The underlying cause points out what people lack. In this case, the underlying cause of unemployment in todays society is that growth of population results in growth of working force. Finally, the immediate cause relates directly to peoples lives. Fiscal Policy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

Fiscal Policy - Essay ExampleFrom the research it can be comprehended that pecuniary form _or_ system of organisation refers to the means used by the government in spending and taxation to monitor or influence the frugality. In a way, the government has to adjust its level of spending to influence the economy. This fiscal prick is used by the government each year to manage its economy for the benefit of the citizens. The tax implications on the nations budget have different inferences to different groups of people within society. Fiscal policy focuses generally on the fiscal changes in government revenue and intake and their impact upon nations economy. Tax and expenditure are the basic fiscal policy putzs. However, the most potent fiscal instrument used by a government is taxation. Taxation has led to simplification of consumption, increases investments, and allow for the transfer of government resources to economic development. Taxation has impact to the general level of ou tput by altering the incentives that institutions encounter. Taxation is oblige by government to cut the cost of governance and communal services. Taxation also facilitates resource re-allocation, and enhances the packaging through equitable wealth distri saveion, to enhance economic growth and development. This also ensures economic stability by correcting and controlling macroeconomic shocks which are both policy-induced or exogenous. Hence, we are able to understand the gap amongst the level of expenditure and taxation. When the government revenue is high, the liquidity trap increases in the money supply, which does not run to the improvement of economic growth due to downward pressure experienced in investment (because of insensitiveness of interest rate compared to money supply) (Alesina & Tabellini 2005). Likewise, this may also occur when the government expenditure surpasses revenue. The most substantial factor to consider in such a case is not the level of the deficit but the change that accompanies the deficit. Fiscal policy is an great instrument that is used to monitor governments economy due to its impact on GDP (Alesina & Tabellini 2005). Fiscal policy has been associated with the use of taxation and domain expenditure to influence the level of economic activities. The implementation of fiscal policy is channeled through governments budget. An important aspect of a public budget is its use as a tool in the management of a nations economy (Alesina & Tabellini 2005). During economic recession, the government plans for budget deficit which is often referred to as expansionary fiscal policy. In such a situation, taxes are reduced with a subsequent increase in the government expenditure, and during depression, or economic boom, the government may decide on a budget redundance to slow down the economy. This implies that through reduction in taxes, the purchasing power of individuals is enhanced and the cost of ware of workers reduces, thither by improving their scale of operations in the business cycle. On the other hand, increases in public expenditure when effectively used can lead into improved developments in the nations infrastructure. Consequently, there is an increase in general welfare and places the economy on the path of growth. This explains the first impact of fiscal policy on improving the demands for goods and services. The aggregate demands make it an important instrument for a governments economic stabilization. Fiscal growth has affects the output level and has implications on a countrys savings. Thus, in fiscal expansion, the government will be forced to reduce savings, which is equivalent to a budget surplus. The reduction in fiscal deficits may lead to increase in domestic production. Furthermore, it may lead to horse barn exchange rate that should be pursued as means of controlling inflation in a nation. 2. With the aid of a diagram, show and explain how fiscal policy can be used to gaffe

Law - Civil Procedure (Hong Kong) Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words

rightfulness - Civil Procedure (Hong Kong) - Essay ExampleJames (1854) 5 De G.M. & G. 876 and its brethren (Novello v. James (1854) 5 De G.M. & G. 876). This project is non suffern to the party against whom the injunction is sought, but to the speak to who is overseeing the proceedings from which the injunction came (Zuckerman, 1994, p. 546). The reason that the plaintiff has to give this undertaking is in the until nowt that either the injunction is dismissed for any reason, or that the defendant wins in a trial on the merits. In either of those cases, it must be shown that the defendant was kept from utilization his or her lawful rights, and was harmed by this. Therefore, the money given as an undertaking must be like to what monetary damage that the defendant would experience because of this loss of rights. This undertaking is a safeguard for defendants rights, as the court is sworn to give both parties equal treatment, and it is a matter of elementary honor that this und ertaking is given (Kirklees Borough Council v. Wickes build Supplies Ltd. 1991 3 W.L.R. 985). However, the entitlement to restitution is non independent of the undertaking (Fletcher Sutcliffe Wild Ltd. v. Burch 1982 F.S.R. 64), and whether or not the defendant is entitled to the undertaking is not decided by the material event, such as the injunction being dismissed or the defendant prevailing on the merits, but, rather, is a discretion of the court (Attorney General v. Albany Hotel Co. 1986 2 Ch. 696). This discretion is not limited in any way (Cheltenham and Gloucester Building Society v. Ricketts 1993 1 W.L.R. 1545. This means that the court does not necessarily have to grant the defendant the damages that have been deposited, even if the defendant prevails on the merits and even if the injunction is dismissed, and this discretion about whether or not to award the defendant is essentially unbridled. This brings up the question of what the undertaking is meant to compensate. Th e injunction usurps the defendants rights in some way, and this is a harm that is suffered by the defendant. For instance, perhaps the defendant is enjoined from keeping open his business later on he has already opened it, because the plaintiff seeks an injunction based upon the fact that defendant is, say, operating a business that is not zoned for a particular area. As it turns out, the zoning for the area is proper, and the existence of the business in this area is also proper. Yet Defendant has now lost several days or even weeks of business. This is a clear harm to the defendant, yet the court does not have to award the defendant the undertaking if the court deems this to be fit, and this discretion is not limited, therefore the defendant probably could not prevail on an appeal on the matter, as appeals courts are loathe to interfere with judicial discretion. This is obviously an injustice, but, since an undertaking is not a function of tort, criminal or contract law, it is di fficult to classify it, so it is difficult to put up what is proper when examining judicial discretion on the issue. One clear way that the defendant may bring the undertaking would be when it is clear that the injunction should never have been granted (Norwest Holst Civil Engineering Ltd. v. Polysius 1987 CA Transcript 644. However, there is a difficulty in ascertaining when an injunction should

The classic example to this would be Pablo Picassos Guemica (1937) In the twentieth century, where he utilized collar cubisttechniques and unembellishedmonochromatic oils, to portray the dreadful result of a contemporary bombing of a small, ancient Basque t induce. Even blasphemous rendering can still be considered as an art as exampled by Andres SerranosPiss Christ(1989) where a photograph of a cross which is considered holy to the Christian religion, depictedChrists sacrifice and final suffering in a manner that is immersed in the artists own urine.

In the work we are going to figure the roots of green consumerism, its main manifestations and define the impact of this trend on the green movement as a whole. How relevant are contemporary attempts to encourage green consumerism? The idea of green consumerism trend is when the environmental benign awareness enters the life and mind of most people the purchasing force of markets will deliver all manufacturers to turn their products and production into green. Otherwise these manufacturers will be rejected from the markets by the green customers. correspond to this strategy, only the manufactu rers, which meet the demands of greening will preserve their positions on the market. This approach also allows people to enter in decision-making process voting by their credit cards. However, there is a nonher view of green consumerism, according to which the whole mass of consumers is considered to be exploited by misleading advertising appealing to badly-informed environmental reason of people. According to the first point of view ecological crisis is the result of low-quality consumption, while according to the second one, this crisis is caused not only by the quality but by the volume of consumption (Goldberg et al, 1997). There are make up skeptics who think that the green consumption may increase the environmental problems as it encourages the manufacturers to produce new products nether the misconception that they are environmental friendly. Some people respond to green appeals that there is no such liaison as a green lunch (cited in Goldberg et al, 1997). Environmental sustainability is one of the three key elements of unified sustainability other two are economic and social. Although these three elements are interrelated, e environmental one is a great deal stay behind economic and social elements. A cost benefit analysis of environmental caution systems found that average pay-back period makes 2 years. According to other studies mend management of environmental risks (for example, environmental marketing strategies) are linked to lower cost of competitive advantage. Generally speaking, marketing managers are a lot concerned about the appropriate shade of green they should apply in their companies. The question is whether a duncical green approach can be used in ecological sustainable organization, whether this approach an be considered proactive, long-term oriented, beneficial and preserving the environment. This problem involves a two-fold challenge. First of all marketers should understand which consumer attitudes should be taken into good will while making green performance assessment. Unfortunately up to date the sufficient investigations of green consumer behavior have not been conducted. The bounce of a squash ball Essay Example for Free

The rebound of a squash vine eggs Essay so the clustering allow for soon begin to lose speed as it rises and its KE (kinetic energy) is changed back to GPE (gravitational potential energy)as or so of its original energy has been converted to heat and sound it result stop with less GPE (gravitational potential energy) than it began with. This is the think wherefore the blossom of the ring for all the temperatures is abase than the original cover (1 meter). Conclusion You can run into from the evidence that my prediction was right as the higher the temperature of the squash clunk, the higher the height of the bounce will be. As you can understand from the results the lowest temperature of 0iC gave an average bounce height of hardly 5m which would be 5% of its initial height. On the other hand the highest temperature of 70i C gave an average bounce height of 58. 4m which is 58. 4% of its original height. This proves my prediction right as non only can you see from the results that the bounce height increases as the temperature increases, you can then see from these results that it must be due to the gas inside the lump heating up, causing the volume of the gas to expand and the molecules to move faster which will caused them to hit the sides much often and harder. This made the rubber expand and store more elastic energy. This meant that the bounce height was larger because the more stretched the rubber became, the better it converted elastic potential energy into kinetic energy when the ball hit the floor and so caused the ball to bounce higher. Evaluation I think that my results were as completed as I could have made them with germane(predicate) safety points carried out and I got good, reliable, true results. The only anomaly I got was at 10i C because the temperature kept dropping which made the average too low. I decided to do the test for 10i C again and my results were much better. The average result for 70i C was lower than the l ine of best fit because I think that once the ball scoop outs to reach the higher temperatures the ball cant keep on stretching and eventually it will reach its maximum stretch and therefore it wont bounce any higher, it will level out. The 70i C point looks like it would be the start of a curve to the levelling out of the bounce height. Other than that my results argon very accurate as they are all very stuffy to my line of best fit suggesting that there arent any anomalies although roughly points are further away from my line of best fit than others. These arent anomalies though because not every point will be exactly on the line of best fit because it would have to be extremely swell controlled and that isnt possible in classrooms and unlikely to be possible in the most controlled laboratories. There will evermore be differences in the results no matter what so therefore I believe that my results were as accurate as possible. My investigation could have been improved by i No t doing the test oer ii lessons so all of the equipment would be the same. i Making authorized that all the preliminary work was through with(p) before I did the actual experiment. iMaking authorized the temperature was kept exactly the same and not letting it drop or increase by even 1i C. i Doing more tests to make sure I get a very accurate average. i Being quicker between winning the ball out of the pee bath and dropping i Not allowing the squash ball to some to the surface of the water bath at some points, keep it below the surface to make sure it definitely reaches thermal equilibrium. I think my results were very reliable even though it was done over two lessons so some of the equipment wasnt the same but it wouldnt have made much difference as all the equipment was mostly the same and were all accurate. At the lower temperatures such as 0i C and 10i C it was hard to keep the temperatures down in a warm room and had increased by a degree or two which could have made a di fference to the bounce height. This would explain why the 10i C point was higher than the line of best fit. Other than that we were very accurate with keeping the water bath at the right temperature and this was shown by the closeness of the points to the line of best fit. To provide additional relevant evidence I could i Use temperatures that go up in 5iC instead of 10i C so I would have more information to show the relationship between the temperature of a squash ball and its bounce height. i I could have a better way of seeing the bounce height by having a video camera set up about a measure away from the experiment to see where about the ball bounced and then have another camera close up to see a closer reading of the bounce height. When I play back the video, I would put it on slow motion and show it frame by frame recording the highschool until the bounce heights start to fall. Then I would take the maximum recording I had for that temperature and that would be the bounce hei ght. This would be very accurate because I would see a very close up measurement and because it would be in slow motion and frame by frame it clearly showed the bounce height and could clearly be read from the bottom of the ball. This is more accurate than using your eyes because the ball would bounce very quickly and you only have a split second to read the height and is very difficult.

Assess the Significance of Henry Viii as a Renaissance Monarch Essay Example for Free

Assess the Signifi natesce of total heat Viii as a Renaissance Monarch try outenthalpy Viii was cr throwed in the early 16th century, during the renaissance period. The renaissance period reflects back on the 15th century Florence, Italy where the rise of spiritual philosophy, nationalism and interest in the arts, humanities and architecture was dominated in pop culture. atomic number 1 Viii reflected these aspects as a renaissance monarch. However his significance to the world to twenty-four hours was his influence in the birth of the Church of England. In 1534 heat content Viii released the atomic bomb he had been brandishing for several years at the pope as said by Imperato. This atomic bomb is in reference to the Henretian Act of Supremacy, a milestone of how hydrogen viii is conjugated as a Renaissance Monarch when looking at religious Philosophy. The Act of Supremacy was the act which formally turned the church building in England to the Church of England (as sta ted by Morrill). Henry was named supreme head of the church, and England became a protestant nation. However religious philosophy wasnt properly explored until later when the Tyndale Bible was handed to the king.Tyndale had translated to ledger from Latin to English, which was a distinct maxim of Martin Luther, the reformer. Henry sentenced Tyndall to be executed for heresy. It was later that Thomas Cranmer Henrys self-appointed archbishop of Canterbury said that the intelligence should be write in English and that all church services should be celebrated in English similarly. So when the Matthew Bible which was a nonher English written bible arose it was quickly adopted by the Church of England. , this was Henrys first action in realising religious philosophy.Jones states, at first the church didnt change, by all but name it was suave Catholic. Jones continues, Tyndall was sentenced to death for heresy although it wasnt until Cranmer said that English bibles were acceptable t hat another English version, the Matthew bible was adopted. Morrill argues that, it was Anne Boleyn who convinced Henry to allow English bibles to be employ. She used her influence over him to countenance such bibles. However in contrast Imperato states that it was a mix of the two members seeking conference well-nigh Martin Luthers 95 thesis and its benefits on England. It is acknowledged that Henry VIII didnt really pauperism the church to reform as much as members of his court did at the time. Where religious philosophy is a key fundament to a Renaissance monarch so is the rise of a sense of Nationalism. Henry VIII explored the rise of nationalism in the form of the Act of Absolute Restraint of Appeals. This act was used to allow Henrys marriage to Catherine of Aragon to be annulled, as it was a National issue not a papal issue and therefore should be dealt with at a national level. The act abruptly annihilated any other courts jurisdiction or influence in an English court case . And so, England seceded from Romes power, go its own Nation with its own secure jurisdictional court. thus Henrys renaissance monarchy rose with a sense of individual Nationalism. The rise of Nationalism was also explored In The Field Of framework Of Gold (1520), which was a very expensive skirmish between Francis Is court of France and Henrys English court in the area of Calais, Englands solely occupied area on the mainland of Europe. The field was supposed to be an exciting set of fun competitions to nurture an chemical bond between England and France. Among the land lay tents decorated with Cloth of Gold, which was a cloth of silk and cloth, but just about importantly it was expensive as both monarchs were trying to best the other and very soon the meeting turned into a grandeur match between the two monarchs. The meeting did not result in an alliance being agreed to. However when Henry returned to England, he signed to an alliance with the Holy papistic Emperor Charles V who, two weeks later opened war with France. The alliance between England and Spain was in itself a rise of nationalism as a military alliance was established in 1520 to strengthen the force of England in the Renaissance world. Anderson states, The act in restraint of appeals really plugged the already fuming relationship between Rome and England (1534) Davis agrees by stating, Englands secession from Rome really was the beginning of a new nation, with its own jurisdictional powers only appeared to itself. From this it can be said that Henry used to Act to raise England into becoming a nation with its nationalist maxims and powers. On the matter of the Field of Cloth of Gold Shelly states, Henrys attempt at an alliance with France was abruptly called to an end when the Field gave no results to what Henry was trying to achieve. Johnson continues Henry VIIIs attempts may have failed with France, but Charles V was more than ready to open an alliance with England. The rise of nationalis m is conjugated here by the fact that Henry extended his kingdoms power by linking with the Holy Roman Emperor in 1520. Another important fundamental component part to a renaissance onarch is an interest in art and architecture which Henry upheld, an example of this is the Field of Cloth of Gold itself. The Field of Cloth of Gold was named after the grand tents made of such fabric which were flamboyant, expensive but most importantly was an expression of interest in modern (renaissance) art. The tents were made with jewels and gold trace to give it a more grandiose appearance. As previously stated, the Field was intended to be the place of origin of an alliance between France and England, however such never occurred. The Field was where dignitaries from the English and French courts operated for 3 weeks. The built-in occasion was one where all(prenominal) monarch would take his turn at beating the other on things that ranged from jousts to poetry and everything in between even t he clothing that all(prenominal) king wore was a contest, each day both of them would be wearing clothes that out-did the clothes they wore the day before by tenfold. So kinda of being a fun occasion where a real friendship between Francis I and Henry VIII it was simply a back and forth competition to show how rich and powerful each king was.The humanities and arts were explored in the Field by both monarch plays were showed daily, poetry was recited publically, slicker was played and songs were written. Henry even payed an esteemed composer and orchestra to play during the kings dinner feast, inside Henrys temporary palace, made of wooden beams with painted canvas that gave the full illusion of a brick intimate and exterior. Jones states, The Field (oCoG) was simply a besting competition of who was the better renaissance monarch, judged on what they presented in the artistic piece of renaissance maxims. From this it can be concluded that the Field of Cloth of Gold was just an e xpression of each kings grandeur and how integrated their courts were with the renaissance and how wealthy they were. In conclusion, Henry VIII can be seen as a significant renaissance monarch by the expression of the rise of religious philosophical reforms shown in the Church of Englands creation. Alongside the rise of nationalism and the development of the of the Arts and humane concepts. All of which were fundamental components of the renaissance. However the main significance of Henry VIII today was his influence in the rise of the Anglican Church.

Movie-Playing Features The Playstation 3 is capable of playing the following types of multimedia discs (list includes Blu-Ray) * Playstation 1,2, and 3 Discs.* Blu-Ray Discs * DVDs * CDs * DVD-R * DVD+R * DVD-RW * DVD+RW * CD-R * CD-RW * Dual Discs RESULTS canvas Costs The following table shows your three options with their prices and a be based on affordability. Table 1. 7 Comparing Costs Option Cost Ranking (1-Best Option) Microsofts Xbox 360 $199. 99 2 Nintendos Wii $149. 99 1 Sonys Playstation 3 $299. 99 3 BEST natural selection All Because you have already identified that your spending limit is $700 for a gaming setup, none of these options go against your cost preference.Cost is not a preventative factor in purchasing a video gaming system based on this information. However, if you decide that you would like to readjust your spending limit given the meaty difference between your limit and the prices of the systems, the Wii is your best option. Comparing Hardware Specifications The table below lists the hardware specifications for each option, and also includes the online capabilities of each system and their respective interlockings. Table 1. 8 Comparing Hardware Specifications Options Hardware Specification Xbox 360 Wii Playstation 3.* * Media Type * * DVD * * Flash Memory Card, * Nintendo Wii Disc, * Nintendo GameCube Disc * * Blu-Ray * * CPU * * 3. 2 GHz PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon * * 729 MHzIBM PowerPC Broadway * * 3. 2 GHz IBM Cell Broadband Engine (8-core) * * Internal Memory * * 4 GB Flash * * 512 MB * * 160 GB HDD * * RAM * * 512 MB * * 512 MB * * 256 MB XDRAM * * Online Services * * Xbox Live * * Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, WiiConnect24, * * Playstation Network * * Online Multi-Player Services * * Yes * * Yes * * Yes * * Connector Types 1 x AV cable port,5 x USB 2.0, 1 x Kinect port,1 x HDMI output1 x SPDIF output,1 x Ethernet (4 pin USB Type A),4 x Game controller,Component video output,Composite video output,S-Video output,2 x USB 2 x USB,1 x Ethernet,1 x HDMI output,1 x PlayStation 3 AV output,1 x SPDIF output * Ranking 1 3 2 BEST OPTION Microsofts Xbox 360 Because your preference is to play online Role-Playing Games, the focus of the hardware specification criterion has to be online capabilities. When it comes to online game-play, Xbox 360 has the technical specifications to make it the best option. champion of the most important specifications in a system is its processor speed. The Xbo x 360 boasts a 3. 2 GHz PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon processor, which is the same speed as the Playstation 3, but far superior to the Wii. When it comes to intense online game play with potentially dozens of other players, it is important to have a processor that can keep up. To keep the self-colored system running smoothly and minimize lag time, it is also important to have a substantial amount of RAM. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 have 512 MB or RAM, while the Wii only has 256 MB.At this point, the Xbox and Playstation 3 are nearly equal in terms of specifications that lean toward online gaming. What right full moony pushes the Xbox 360 in the lead is their network Xbox Live. As of 2011, Xbox Live has over 30 million users worldwide. Most of the games that are play on the Xbox Live network are geared toward your gaming preference of Role-Playing and Adventure games. However, due to the massive size of the network and the turn number of users, even a less popular category like Strate gy is operable for multi-player gaming. consort to Michael McNeilly, an experienced Xbox 360 online gamer, There is really nothing like the Xbox Live network out there. The network for PS3 is okay, but it isnt nearly as big and has a lot of bugs that still havent been worked out. Michael Mcneilly has played all of the other systems extensively, but due to his love for online gaming, he chose the Xbox 360. Ralph Jones, an greedy Wii owner and player, explained to me that he really has no need to play online. He mostly enjoys the physical nature of the Wiis gameplay, and doubts that the Wii is even capable of serious online gaming.According to Kyle Johnson, an avid gamer and owner of all three options, the Wii is not a competitive option in terms of online gaming. When asked about the Playstation 3 and its online gaming community, Kyle explained that there is a reason that the Playstation Network does not have a subscription fee. It is not adequate when compared to Xbox Live, and t he number of users sometimes makes it hard to play the less popular games online. Clearly, the Xbox 360 offers the best of both worlds. It has a massive online gaming community and also boasts a powerful 3.2 GHz processor. With processor speed and RAM that are equal to the Playstation 3 and far superior to the Wii, the Xbox Live community is what gives the Xbox 360 the top ranking and makes it the best option in terms of hardware specification. Comparing Games Offered Table 1. 9 lists a calculated average of the two figures previously provided in graphs 1. 1, 1. 2, and 1. 3. These figures were mean game-review scores of all games in three genres, and mean scores of the top-five best-selling games for the three genres. Table 1. 9 Comparing Games Offered pt. 1 Options.Genre Xbox 360 Wii Playstation 3 Role-Playing Games 79. 4 72. 7 71. 75 Adventure Games 76. 1 76. 7 77. 9 Platformer Games 76. 2 72. 2 76. 2 Ranking 1 3 2 Table 1. 10 shows how many games are available for each system in your most preferred genre Role-Playing Games. Table 1. 10 Comparing Games Offered pt. 2 Options Genre Xbox 360 Wii Playstation 3 Role-Playing Games 108 33 117 Ranking 2 3 1 BEST OPTION Microsofts Xbox 360 base on the averages found for all five relevant genres, the Xbox 360 is the best option for the Games Offered criterion. charge though the Playstation 3 has a slightly higher total number of Role-Playing Games available for sale, it does not preponderate the fact that the Xbox 360 scored significantly higher on overall game-review scores. It is generally more important to have higher-rated games than a greater quantity of lower-rated games. For this reason, the Xbox 360 is the best choice for the Games Offered criterion. Comparing Target Demographic Table 1. 11 displays your three options and the total number of ratings received for each rating category out of all games available for each system. Table 1. 11 Comparing Target Demographic. Options (Number of Ratings) Rating Micr osofts Xbox 360 Nintendos Wii Sony Playstation 3 Everyone 303 916 481 Everyone 10+ 213 355 186 Teen 535 374 529 Mature 491 57 373 Rating Pending 145 61 145 Ranking 1 3 2 BEST OPTION Microsofts Xbox 360 Based on all of the games available for each gaming system, the Xbox 360 has the most games with ratings in the Mature and Teen categories. Since you, Pascal, are an adult and prefer the types of games that are most normally rated Teen and Mature, the Xbox 360 gets the top rank for the Target Demographic criterion.Sonys Playstation 3 comes in second with a comparable number of games in the Teen and Mature rating categories, but they are not sort of as high as the Xbox 360. Nintendos Wii has least number of ratings in each of those categories. The Wii has a tremendously low number of games in the Mature category at 57, and roughly 150 less games in the Teen category than the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. This makes it clear that the Xbox 360 is geared toward an adult audience, and wil l likely have more games that suit the preferences of an adult. The Playstation 3 is a close second, but still offers significantly less games in the Mature category. The Wii seems to be geared toward a younger, less mature audience, and will likely have the least number of games that will fit your preferences. With all of this considered, it is clear that the Xbox 360 is the best option for the Target Demographic criterion. Comparing Common Hardware Malfunctions and Glitches Table 1. 11 shows all of the common hardware malfunctions and glitches for each option. This table also assigns a ranking (1 being the system with the overall least severe hardware problems relative to the other options). Table 1. 12 Comparing Common Hardware Malfunctions and Glitches Options. DVD tray and laser failure) *Power Supply Issue*WiCon nect24 Issue*Dual-Layer Wi Disc Failure *Complete System Crash Yellow Lights of Death Ranking 2 1 3 BEST OPTION Nintendos Wii Based on this table and other research, I have identified Nintendos Wii as your best option for the Common Hardware Malfunctions and Glitches criterion. Even though the Wii does run into problems occasionally, they are rarely as severe as they are with the other options. All of the problems listed for the Wii are covered by warranty and are not worthy of pure(a) system replacement. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 both commonly run into full system crashes, which render the system unusable. Kyle Johnson, an avid gamer and owner of all three options, has never run into a problem with his Wii, but has experienced full system crashes on both his Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The only reason the Xbox 360 is ranked higher than the Playstation 3 is because self-repair on the Playstation 3 is strongly discouraged.Kyle Johnson and Michael McNeilly have bot h performed minor repairs on their Xbox 360s, but have never dared to open up their Playstation 3s. With all things considered, Nintendos Wii is the best option for the Common Hardware Malfunctions and Glitches criterion. Comparing Movie-Playing Features Table 1. 13 below shows all of the media discs played by each option, and whether or not that option satisfies your preference of having a built-in Blu-Ray player. Table 1. 13 Comparing Movie-Playing Features Options Xbox 360 Wii Playstation 3Media Discs Played * Xbox 360 Discs * Xbox 1 Discs * DVDs * CDs * DVD-R * DVD+R * DVD-RW * DVD+RW * CD-R * CD-RW * Dual Discs * Wii Discs * GameCube Discs * Playstation 1,2, and 3 Discs * Blu-Ray Discs * DVDs * CDs * DVD-R * DVD+R * DVD-RW * DVD+RW * CD-R * CD-RW * Dual Discs Satisfies Preference? No No Yes Ranking 2 3 1 BEST OPTION Sonys Playstation 3 Based on the media discs that each option offers, Sonys Playstation 3 is the obvious choice for the top rank in the Movie-Playing Features criterion. The Playstation 3 is capable of playing both DVDs and Blu-Rays, while the Xbox.360 is only capable of playing DVDs. The Nintendo Wii, however, cannot even play DVDs. Because you have identified that you prefer a video gaming system that has a built-in Blu-Ray player, the Playstation 3 is the best option for the Movie-Playing Features criterion. CONCLUSIONS Table 1. 14 lists the rankings of each of the six evaluative criteria used throughout this report. In order to come to an overall conclusion as to which option to select, I have assigned change point values to the previously determined rankings. If, for instance, an option received a ranking of 1, it would be determine a 3.A ranking of 2 receives a value of 2, and a ranking of 3 is treasured a 1. The total number of points will be shown at the bottom of the table along with the final ranking. The video gaming system with the highest number of points will be ranked as 1 and will be your best option. The price is universal when bought new, but may vary depending on bundling and other promotions. I have prepared a table showing three popular retailers, the nearest location, and the price of the Xbox 360 4GB system. Table 1. 15 Retail Locations and Price Retailers and Locations Price GameStop(425) 895-833116475 NE 74TH STRedmond, WA 98052 $199. 99 Target(425) 482-641013950 NE 178th PlWoodinville, WA 98072 $199. 99 Walmart(425) 741-94451400 164Th St SwLynnwood, WA 98087 $199.99 Throughout my research I began to realize that the final outcome w ould depend heavily on how much any criterion was value. Based on your personal preferences, the best choice is the Xbox 360. However, if you decided that you valued having a Blu-Ray player above everything else, then the Playstation 3 would be the best option. If you decided that the only way to play Role-Playing Games was to use a remote and a nun chuck, then the Wii would be the best choice. It all depends on the valuing of any particular criterion. If you are interested in doing further research, the bibliography lists all sources used.My personal interviewees may be available if you would like to ask them questions, and all of my other sources have a variety of expedient and reliable information. Based on everything I have learned from this report and my personal experience with the system, I believe that the Xbox 360 is the best choice for a video gaming system. Individualism versus Collectivism Essay Example for Free

individuation versus Collectivism EssayThe concepts of individuation and collectivism apply to the description of societies and individuals within the society. Cultures vary in their levels of individualism/ collectivism while individuals within these specific cultures vary on the same dimension. Idiocentric and allocentric are constructs that are in truth important in differentiating consistent variations of an individuals attitudes, beliefs, ego-definition, normative behavior and self-definition. Individualism is termed as the individuals level of idiocentric while collectivism is the persons level of allocentric (Udehn, 2001).Idiocentric individuals emphasize more on their own goals and needs over those of the group to which they belong. They are much independent and self-reliant. On the other hand, allocentric individuals lean to be more cooperative, interdependent and they also have a stronger desire to partner with others. In admission allocentric and idiocentric ind ividuals differ in their source of intimacy and companionship to satisfy their several needs and to strengthen their self-esteem. For instance, idiocentric obtains their social book from peers and best friends while allocentrics obtain their social support from their parents.Individuals with allocentric scatencies have fewer daily exactly more in-depth discussions than individuals with idiocentric tendencies. People who express more allocentric or idiocentric tendencies vary in various ways. For instance, the people who tend to be more allocentric have good reliability and inter-correlation thus showing convergent validity. They are characterized with tether main aspects which include individual to group goals, in-group as extension of the self and in-group identity. Individuals who are more idiocentric generally use equity and need in distributing rewards.Individuals who are more allocentric mainly emphasize on the set of cooperation, fairness and honesty while individuals who are more idiocentric put much emphasis on determine of comfortable life, competition, pleasure and social recognition. Persons who are allocentric receive much and better quality social support while those who are more idiocentric are usually higher in achievement motivation, alienation and greater loneliness. The difference between collective and individualist cultures is mainly based on self.In collectivist cultures, the self is more linked to in-group memberships while in individualist cultures self-concept is obtained from independently groups which are based on the vary characteristics and contributions of the individual. In collectivists cultures, there is high adherence to the goals of the in-group and to in-group values and also the maintaining of in-group harmony (Lee Kelly 1996). In individualistic societies, the functions and the goals of a particular individual are more important and less significance is attached to in-group harmony.Nevertheless, individualism is mainly based on Western cultures while collectivism is related with Eastern cultures. Collectivistic cultures have let down rates of suicide, psychopathology and relatively higher marital satisfaction than individualistic cultures. I consider myself to be idiocentric. This is because I always concentrate on my own goals and achievement over those of the other people and I carry out my tasks independently. I normally display a different tendency towards the allocentric. For instance, in devising purchase of luxury brands, I purchase goods for my own sake pleasures ad interests while the allocentric purchase the luxury brands only with an aim of seeking social recognition (McCarthy, 2005). As a result of these differences, conflict and misinterpretation emerges. This is because as a personally motivated consumer, I will purchase the luxury brands for self-interests while on the other hand an allocentric individual who is socially motivated will make the purchase of luxury brands w ith an aim of seeking social recognition.

brazil nut Economy EssayA New Contender in the Global Economy? Throughout the latest research, newspaper or semipolitical science journal articles Brazil has been termed an upcoming spheric power or supranational player. Brazil is the largest national preservation in Latin America, the worlds seventh largest economy at market exchange rates and the seventh largest purchasing power parity, according to the international M geniustarty Fund and the world bank.Brazil has a mixed economy with abundant natural resources. Brazil is rapidly becoming a large contender in the Global economy partly due to creation one of the 17 mega diverse countries in the world, home to a variety of wildlife, natural environment and broad natural resources in a variety of protected habitats. The economy of Brazil is the worlds seventh largest by nominal GDP.Brazils economy is the largest in Latin American nations and comes in act best in the western hemisphere. With an average annual GDP growth rate over over 5 pct, Brazil comes in as one of the fastest- growing major economies in the world. In Brazilian reals, Its GDP was sum upd at R$4. 403 trillion in 2013. The Brazilian economy is predicted to become one of the five largest economies in the world in the decades to come. This is due to many factors including brazils involvement in a come of diverse economic organizations such as the mercosur, Unasul, G8+5, G20, WTO and the Cairns group. Its trade partners number in the hundreds, with 60 percent of exports mostly of manufactures or semi manufactures goods. Brazils main trade partners in 2008 were Mercosul and Latin America (25. 9 percent of trade), EU (23. 4 percent), Asia (18. 9 percent), the United States (14. 0 percen t), and the others (17. 8 percent). But manufactured products such as machinery, transport equipment and miscellaneous manufactured products are also important they represent around one fourth of Brazilian exports to the EU.Brazil is the single biggest exporter of agricultural products to the EU. EUs exports to Brazil consist mainly of manufactured products, such as machinery, transport equipment and chemicals. In goods, the EU runs an general trade deficit with Brazil but has a surplus in commercial services trade. (Freeman, 2012) It can be seen that Petrobras discovery of the lula anoint field in 2006 was the cover set up for Brazils global economic uprise. TheLula oil field(formerlyTupi oil field) is a large oil field located in theSantos Basin, 250 kilometres off the coast ofRio de Janeiro,Brazil The field was nick buildd in honor of theTupi peopleand later named after former Brazilian electric chairLuiz Inacio da Silva. It is considered to be theWestern Hemispheres largest oil discovery of the last 30 years.BRAZILS discovery of oodles of offshore oil in 2006 felt uniform a transformative moment. (Paulo 2012) The Lula field was discovered in October 2006 by Petrobras, with the well flowing 4,900 barrels per day of unfermented 30 degrees API crude oil, 0. 7 sulphur content and 4. 3million cuboid feet per day (120,000 cubic metres per day) of gas from a deep sub-salt reservoir on a16mm choke. The former president of Brazil,Luiz Inacio Lula da Silvacalled the field second independence for Brazil. The field was originally named Tupi but in 2010 it was renamed Lula. The name Lula means a mollusc in Portuguese but also refers to Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The upper estimate of 8billion barrels (1. 3 billion cubic metres) of recoverable oil would be bounteous to meet the total global demand for crude oil for about three months at the 2008 global extraction rate of around 85 million barrels per day. In January 2008 Petrobras announced the discovery of theJupiter field, a hugenatural gasandcondensat efield which could equal the Lula oil field in size. It lies 37 kilometres vitamin E of Lula.Block BM-S-11, which contains the Lula field, is operated byPetrobraswith a 65% controlling stake whileBG Groupholds 25% andGalp Energiahas the stay 10% interest.
